you saw the whole of the moon …

“The Whole Of The Moon”

I pictured a rainbow
You held it in your hands
I had flashes
But you saw the plan
I wandered out in the world for years
While you just stayed in your room
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon
The whole of the moon

You were there at the turnstiles
With the wind at your heels
You stretched for the stars
And you know how it feels
To reach too high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the whole of the moon

I was grounded
While you filled the skies
I was dumbfounded by truths
You cut through lies
I saw the rain-dirty valley
You saw Brigadoon
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon

I spoke about wings
You just flew
I wondered, I guessed and I tried
You just knew
I sighed
But you swooned
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon
The whole of the moon

With a torch in your pocket
And the wind at your heels
You climbed on the ladder
And you know how it feels
To get too high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the whole of the moon
The whole of the moon

Unicorns and cannonballs
Palaces and piers
Trumpets, towers, and tenements
Wide oceans full of tears
Flags, rags, ferry boats
Scimitars and scarves
Every precious dream and vision
Underneath the stars

Yes, you climbed on the ladder
With the wind in your sails
You came like a comet
Blazing your trail
Too high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the whole of the moon

Joseph – Stoned Age Man (1969) – Full Album

This is the first, and only album by Joseph. Not much is known about this band or album. I’ll tell you all I can, though. The “Joseph” in the band is Joseph Longeria, a blues singer/guitarist who was playing the Texas blues-bar circuit in the late ’60s. He was discovered by producer/A&R man Steve Tyrell. Longeria was signed to Scepter Records, and went to work. Longeria had song titles, but no actual songs. Him, the rest of his band and the producers wrote music and lyrics to go with all the titles, and recorded the album in a mere 48 hours. Joseph never had a hit, and never released anything after this. This album is very rare, and is unknown among common society.

Songs:
1. Trick Bag
2. I Ain’t Flattenin’ No More Frogs For Snakes
3. Cold Biscuits and Fish Heads
4. Stoned Age Man
5. I’m Gonna Build a Mountain
6. Mojo Gumbo
7. The House of the Rising Sun
8. Gotta Get Away
9. Come the Sun Tomorrow

What can we say except …Classic Stoner (heavy fuzz) bluesrock!!!This is a rare album indeed and much sought after, originallyreleased on the Scepter label (SPS 574) in 1970 and recordedin Memphis at the legendary American Sound Studios.

The “Joseph” was in fact Joseph Long or Joseph Longeria, discovered by the albums producer and A & R man SteveTyrell playing in Houston in a battle of the blues competition!!This is the only know foray into recording that Longeria madeand he was a superb guitar player to boot!!Stoned Age Man contains some of weirdest lyrics ever written.

Concerto Moz 4 luglio ’15

Why do you come here ?
And why do you hang around ?
I’m so sorry
I’m so sorry

Why do you come here
When you know it makes things hard for me ?
When you know, oh
Why do you come ?
Why do you telephone ? (Hmm…)
And why send me silly notes ?
I’m so sorry
I’m so sorry

Why do you come here
When you know it makes things hard for me ?
When you know, oh
Why do you come here
You had to sneak into my room
‘just’ to read my diary
“It was just to see, just to see”
(All the things you knew I’d written about you…)
Oh, so many illustrations
Oh, but
I’m so very sickened
Oh, I am so sickened now

Oh, it was a good lay, good lay
It was a good lay, good lay
It was a good lay, good lay
Oh oh
It was a good lay, good lay
It was a good lay, gooood lay.
Oh, it was a good lay, good lay
Oh
Oh, it was a good lay
It was a good lay
Oh, a good lay
Oh, a good lay
Good lay, good lay
Oh
It was a good lay

The Woodentops …

Get it on/ Good thing/ Give it time/ love train/ Hear me James/ Love affair with Evryday living/ So good today/ Shout/ history/ travelling man/ last time/ Everything breaks. Rough trade records.

Produced Bob Sargeant

Official 1st album. Musical, sharply produced spawning hit single ‘Good thing’. Recorded at londons Roundhouse studios. It was the bands most mainstream album. It led to an American deal with CBS and opened the doors worldwide to the band, now performing as far from home as Japan. Straight away the band began to brutalise these songs with a new confidence.

Moose were a British indie rock band who formed in London in 1990. The original line-up included Russell Yates (guitar, vocals), K.J. “Moose” McKillop (guitar), Damien Warburton (drums), and Jeremy Tishler (bass). After Warburton and Tishler left the band they were replaced with Lincoln Fong (bass), his brother Russell (guitar), and Richard Thomas (drums). Other members have included Mig Moorland (drums) and Mick Conroy (keyboards).

Moose released two EPs on Hut Records. Within the next few years the band would release two more full-length albums on Play It Again Sam. Despite a strong critical response, Moose’s albums continued to sell few copies. Following the release of their third album, Live a Little Love a Lot, Moose took an extended break from music only to return five years later with the release of High Ball Me!. The bulk of High Ball Me! had been recorded in 1996 and 1997, (with one song, “There’s a Place,” dating from 1993), but sat unreleased as the band members decided whether or not to continue with Moose. “This River Will Never Run Dry” has been featured on the recent Britpop collection “The Brit Box.”
